After 31 successful years as the Owner/Operator of Collectors Choice Restaurant John Hager decided that it was time for him to retire and pass the reins of his well-known and popular Restaurant on to a new Owner.
After much thought and consideration the decision was made to sell Collectors Choice in Snohomish to Barry and Mary Galen. The sale closed on September 29th, 2014. While Mary will attend to the accounting side of the Restaurant Barry will be running the day to day operations of the Restaurant.
Barry lives in Everett with his Wife Xiaoqing (Mary) Galen of 14 years they have two children, Ruby Galen age 22 and Tiffany Galen age 20.
Barry met Mary who was living in China on-line in 1999 while living in Alaska. Mary had one Daughter Ruby and we adopted our Niece Tiffany who is Mary's Brother's Daughter in 2007 so that she would be able to live and go to school here.
Ruby studied Law and just Graduated while Tiffany has just gotten started and will be studying to be a Psychiatrist. Mary is a Customer Service Manager for the Everett Clinic and has a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration.
Barry Galen has extensive experience in the food service industry dating back to 1974. Barry has held positions in food service ranging from dishwasher to General Management with both front of house and back of house experience Barry is well suited to take on the complex challenges of running a large Restaurant like Collectors Choice. Having worked in all types of Restaurants from Mom & Pop and fine dining to hotels, resorts and fast food even working as a breakfast chef for John at Collectors in 1988.
These were just some of the reasons that John felt that Barry was the right person at the right time to carry on the legacy of Collectors Choice that He and Donna built and to carry it forward to the next level.
Barry will be concentrating on continuing the traditions already established that Collectors in known for as well as improving and expanding other aspects of Collectors.
Barry and John both believe that Collectors Choice is capable of being The Premier Dining Destination not only in the city of Snohomish but in all of Snohomish County as well.
So next time you are in Collectors introduce yourself to Barry. You will likely find him helping out on the dining room floor or greeting customers.
